Life is busy, and let’s be honest, the “God question” usually gets pushed to the back burner between work emails, family commitments, and just trying to keep up. But every now and then, the big questions bubble up to the surface.
Maybe you grew up in church but stopped going years ago. Maybe you’ve never stepped foot in one because the headlines you see don’t match the “love” they preach. Or maybe you’re just curious if there’s actually something, or someone. more to this life.
At Emmanuel Community Church, we believe that no question is too big for God. He isn’t fragile; He isn’t offended by our doubts, and He actually wants us to wrestle with the truth until we find it.
That’s why we’re running a new series of Sundays specifically thinking through some of life’s big questions. We’re tackling the “Why Bother?” questions head-on.
The Conversations We’re Having
We aren’t interested in giving you easy answers. We’re diving into the tough stuff:
- Why bother with a God who allows so much suffering? If God is good, why is the world often so dark? We’re looking honestly at pain, injustice, and where God is in the midst of it.
- Why bother with a guy who lived 2,000 years ago? Is Jesus just a historical relic, or does a carpenter from ancient Israel actually have something relevant to say to you in 2026?
- Why bother with a God whom science has disproved? Does faith require you to leave your brain at the door? We’ll explore why science and faith aren’t at war, but are actually telling two parts of the same story.
- Why bother with a church that is corrupt, controlling, and culturally irrelevant? The church has a messy track record. We’re having an honest conversation about the failures of the institution versus the radical invitation of the Gospel.
Who Is This For?
You. And whoever you want to bring along.
- The Friend who loves a good debate.
- The Colleague who thinks religion is a fairy tale.
- The Neighbour who is going through a hard time and wondering “Why?”
- The “Ex-Church” Member who needs a safe space to process their baggage.
There’s no pressure to believe, no dress code, and definitely no “shushers.” Just honest talk and a chance to explore together.
