What Is A Passion For Life?

by | Feb 8, 2026

A PASSION FOR LIFE ‘26 is a nationwide gospel mission through local churches beginning March 2026.  Churches across the whole of the UK are joining together to invite people in their communities to find life in Jesus as we ask the big question: Ever feel like something is missing?

Haven’t we done this before?

Yes, back in 2022 we joined with 750 Churches nationwide to invite people from our communities to find life in Jesus. The primary way we did this was through three evangelistic evenings where we provided good food, interviewed a Christian with a compelling story (Tom the scientist, Victoria the cancer patient and Mark the rock star), and heard a gospel message from the evangelist, Martin Povey. We were also encouraged to share the gospel with non-Christians we knew, being equipped through the excellent video resources produced by the Passion for Life team.

What’s different this time round?

We’re still having some evening events – March 7th is an evening of drama at Green Lane and March 27th is an evening of comedy and magic at the Mill. Both of these events are going to be evangelistic and great to bring friends to! However, the big difference this time round is the emphasis on evangelism through our Growth Groups. The idea is that through the relationships people in Growth Groups have with non-Church folk, opportunities for evangelism can be naturally created. For example, a couple in a GG may invite round their non-Church friends for a meal, whilst also inviting a few people from their GG too.  Those in the GG who don’t make the meal can be praying for the evening, either as a separate group or from the comfort of their own home. The more our non-Church friends are exposed to Christians, the more drawn to Jesus and the Church they are likely to be.

Is this really necessary?

Yes! The results of the Quiet Revival Survey tell us that people, especially younger and older folk, are open to exploring Christianity in greater numbers than we’ve seen in a while. It seems like the ground is very fertile at the moment, and our role to sow the seed seems like it will, by God’s grace, produce much fruit. The question for us all is, “Will we scatter the seed of the gospel?”.

How is Passion for Life going to help us scatter the seed?

Passion for Life resources will help equip us to scatter seed like a farmer with a tow-behind spreader (I googled this!). Passion for Life also reminds us that we are part of something bigger as the nationwide focus draws us closer to other Christians who are praying for the lost and seeking to reach them with the gospel. Finally, Passion for Life is meant to be the start of a commitment to mission. Our evangelism is not meant to happen in March every four years! Rather, as we reach out to people, and see God at work, we are encouraged to keep doing this as part of our daily Christian witness.

As the young people say when they get excited, “Let’s go!”

How Do We Make Wise Decisions In A World Of Outrage?

Four Questions: If you haven’t noticed, we live in an age of outrage — a world where every swipe, scroll and click seems to fan the flames of anger and division. In 2025, Oxford University Press named “rage bait” its Word of the Year — a term describing content...

Exposure Leads To Change!

Have you ever tried on a pair of trousers only to find they’re a bit tighter around the midriff than you can remember? The tightness of the trousers exposes that we’ve put on a bit of weight. This exposure may result in staying away from cake! Have you ever had a test...

Is The World My Oyster?

In this edition of The Loop, Chris has written several articles to help us prepare for A Passion for Life. They focus on evangelism and on being witnesses to Jesus Christ in our everyday lives. To kick us off, however, I want us to think about something more basic:...
